3 Questions: Artist & Curator in Conversation

1. Describe your working process as an artist 

I work from low resolution images taken from image searches on the Internet and then made into a painting. I start by looking for images that are trending on Google, and recently have solicited responses for proposed paintings on Facebook. I alter, recompose, crop , change colours and often combine different images, then I print the image with colour swatches to help me in mixing colours. 

2. What was your source of inspiration for your work in the exhibition? How did the act of art-making help you in reflecting on/responding to the pandemic as an artist? 

My inspiration for these works were  of course the dedication of the medical workers depicted , We owe them a debt of gratitude. 

3. How do you think the visual arts helps us understand the complex world around us? 

I believe  that by  taking these images out of the flux of everyday life , and making them a concrete object, that I can make the viewer aware of the life and times we are all experiencing
